Theology of Giving

At WRPC, we frequently encourage three general forms of giving: tithes, offerings, and missional giving.

The command to tithe, or give a tenth (10%), is expressed variously in the Old and New Testaments but always in proportion to the increase with which God has blessed you through your labor. Tithes are always received into the church’s general fund and allocated by the deacons according to an annual budget approved by the Session.

The second type of giving is offerings. These are voluntary expressions of thankfulness for one or another particular reason. If undesignated, such gifts may be received into the general fund. However, an individual may designate these gifts to a specific ministry such as a building fund or student scholarship for camp.

The third type of giving may be considered that which is missional. By this, we think of a broad range of gifts such as regular support for a missionary, or a particular one-time gift to support a specific need (e.g. car for a missionary, a book fund for a seminary student, etc).

All such gifts are tax deductible; however, it may be necessary to contact the WRPC deacons for the feasibility of a non-cash donation or to determine the appropriate way to support a particular missionary.

Please Note: Charitable gifts may not be designated to individual persons.

Online Payments

In addition to giving, users may also designate non-charitable payments for various purchases or activities (e.g. youth camp registration, bible study books, Wednesday night dinner, etc.). When making such payments, please select the appropriate category, if applicable, or use the memo option to indicate where your payment should be directed.

Giving Portal

In an effort to be responsible stewards, the diaconate of WRPC has created a giving portal. The giving portal allows for a simple interface through a variety of sources (click here, or see the navigational bar at top of page) including a payment service to designate regular or one-time gifts or payments. Please follow the directions in the drop-down menus and those applicable to your financial institutions to complete the transaction.
