Ladies Thursday Bible Studies

September 9 - November 18 • The Choir Room @ WRPC

  • Thursday Mornings
Susan Barry will be teaching based on the book by Mark Chanski: Womanly Dominion.
Christian men and women are called to exercise dominion, yet many women lack confidence in how to carry out this mandate. How do we balance being strong, purposed "Proverbs 31 women" with the scriptural call to be submissive, gentle and quiet? Join us on Thursday mornings this fall as we seek to be re-invigorated, motivated, instructed and encouraged in our varied roles as women. We will read Womanly Dominion, study scripture, and have lots of Q & A and discussion as we take scriptural principles and practically translate them into the issues that we encounter in our day-to-day experiences. (Nursery available: infant-5yr)
  • Thursday Evenings
Taught by Val Domagalski: The Liberated Woman - Becoming an Expert in Galatians: The Christian Declaration of Independence
What comes to mind when you think of a "liberated" woman? Perhaps there is no one subject so misunderstood and so misapplied than the doctrine of Christian liberty. That liberty is easily defiled by legalism and man-made spiritual bondage. We women often find ourselves swinging between the two extremes of legalism and libertinism. We are tempted to supplement God's all-sufficient grace with rules that imply; "This is how a good Christian woman should be." This unbiblical thinking often results in defeated and anemic Christian lives. Ask yourselves the following questions to determine if, although dressed in different clothes, many of us don't struggle with the same things today as the Galatians did so long ago: How do I define my Christian liberty? If I'm under grace, aren't I free to do as I please? From what and to what have I been freed? Do I struggle with legalism? If so, why? If I'm free, why am I still bound to the moral law? Do I serve and obey God solely out of a motive of obligation? If your answers fall short of what you know they should be biblically, then the WIC Evening Bible study is for you. We're not only going to study Galatians, we're going to become experts in this Christian Declaration of Independence; so much so, that by God's grace, we will emerge as true, liberated Christian women who evidence their freedom in victorious, fruitful lives. (Sorry, no childcare available)
