Children's Ministry

God declares to us in the Scriptures that "children are a heritage from the Lord" (Psalm 127:3). WRPC diligently seek to train and disciple the heritage entrusted to us by supporting and assisting parents in the Christian nurture of their children (Eph.6:4). Formally, we do this work through our Children's Ministry Program. It includes the following:

  • Teaching that is rich in biblical content and instruction
  • Memorization of Scripture and Catechism
  • Familiarization of songs sung in the corporate worship service
  • Fellowship with other children of a similar age group

These ministries take concrete forms at WRPC

Children's Sunday School
Every Sunday morning from 11:15-12:00 children meet in their appropriate age group for Sunday School class. The weekly bulletin lists the classrooms and teachers. You can also stop by the Visitors' Desk in the foyer for more information.
Catekids
On Wednesday Night children gather again for instruction and memorization of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, along with an assortment of fun and games. This program may sometimes vary during the year, but always maintains a rich and biblical content.
Vacation Bible School
Summer features one of the highlights of our children's ministry with WRPC's VBS for the children of the church and community (K4-6th Grade). Each year's theme is carefully chosen to be evangelistic and to work to build up the faith of our children. Typically, as many as half of those in attendance will be from outside the church.
Fellowship
Finally, we are purposeful about bringing our children together for fun, to foster common interests and to create shared experiences and memories in the Body of Christ. Play groups, sprinkler parties, church picnics, and major events like the Fall Festival are vehicles for mutual encouragement. We recognize the simple truth that God made us for relationships.
